In this article, we will explore what exactly SAFe® DevOps is for health radar and what can you use it for.

The DevOps health radar is an assessment to assess your current state and where you are at the moment in regards to DevOps. Consisting of four dimensions: continuous exploration, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and release on demand. Furthermore, each of these dimensions encompasses four activities. For example, in continuous exploration this is hypothesize, collaborate, research architect, and synthesize.

The DevOps health radar is used as an assessment framework with that you can assess yourself in each of these or each of these activities. We have five levels in there and the Scaled Agile framework provides you with an excel where you can input the values and calculate out of that the spider diagram.

When I fill out DevOps health radar, I usually add another column. The current state is where we are at the moment, but your new column should also consist of where you will be in the future. In many cases, it is not necessary that you need to reach a five in every one of these activities. Three or two is completely acceptable.

This is a perfect instrument to identify where you are at the moment and where your biggest gaps are. It will help you with DevOps transformation and for visualization of current and future state.
